GC7
We utilise the Global Fund's GC7 as a pivotal chance to involve young people in health program and policy design. Committed to meaningful participation, the goal is to integrate the views and leadership of Adolescents and Young People (AYP) to ensure responsive and effective health solutions, reflecting their unique needs and enabling them to drive sustainable change.
Beneficiaries
Our ODSS training, followed by C-19 activities, empowered 15 youth-led organisations across 15 counties. They facilitated over 60 AYPs in accessing comprehensive HIV-related support, including mental health services, ensuring a holistic approach to health and well-being.
Project design
- Consultative meetings were held with AYPs to pinpoint their needs for the GC7 proposal, leading to the nomination of AYP module coordinators.
- A gap analysis was developed to inform the funding request proposal, with a focus on prioritisation and review writing retreats.
- A CSO Dialogue with the Global Fund’s Executive Director highlighted the importance of community-based activities and the involvement of youth-led organisations.
- A KCM Constituency Feedback Meeting helped refine narratives and cost allocations for the final submission to the Global Fund.
Impact
The initiative significantly influenced decision-making platforms, with over 12 AYPs participating in the GC7 writing process and meetings with influential figures like Peter Sands, the Executive Director of the Global Fund. AYP involvement ensured that their perspectives shaped strategies and proposals, advocating for youth-led organisation’s roles in implementation.
