Who We Are

Y+ Kenya is a youth-led network organisation

Formed in September 2018, Y Plus Kenya advocates for the rights of young people living with and affected by HIV. The network is made up of youth-led and youth-serving organisations that work together to promote impactful and sustainable solutions for HIV and sexual and reproducti ve health across Kenya.

We serve as an umbrella network for youth-led organisation  in the HIV and SRHR response, with a vision to empower Adolescents and Young People (AYP) to lead healthy and productive lives.

Our Story

In August 2017, AYPLHIV and a UNAIDS Representative convened to address a critical need. Youth-led and youth-serving organisations were working in isolation, duplicating efforts, and struggling to tackle HIV and SRHR challenges effectively. AYPLHIV decided to work under We emerged as an umbrella network to harmonise these efforts. Six organisations directly involved in HIV work formed the core of Y+ Kenya, which later became an officially registered NGO in April 2020.

Vision

We envision a world where young people living with and affected by HIV enjoy the highest attainable standard of health without distinction of religion, political belief, economic or social condition.

Mission

To create an enabling environment where young people living with and affected by HIV and AIDs are meaningfully engaged and included in safe spaces that impact their lives.

Our Objectives

To ensure equitable access to integrated HIV and Sexual reproductive Health interventions for young People living with and affected by HIV and AIDS.

To harmonize and coordinate the efforts of young people on their diversity to address SRHR and HIV issues at all levels.

To enhance evidence based knowledge, skills and attitude of young people on SRHR & HIV leading to behavioural change, which enables them to make informed choices

To leverage on new and existing partnerships to mobilize resources to invest in youth led organizations that support young people living with and affected by HIV

To advocate for the development and review of public health policies to reflect the realities of young people at all levels
