Deep Dive Initiative

Launched with the support of the Her Voice Fund, this project focused on creating meaningful opportunities for AGYW to lead and shape their own sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) agenda while ensuring accountability and advocacy at national and community levels.

Beneficiaries

The Deep Dive Project is aimed to amplify the voices and engagement of Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) in Kenya.

Project design

  • Tausi Taskforce: A youth-led advocacy platform for AGYW that focused on SRHR, leadership, and social accountability. The task force steered national dialogues, policy discussions, and community engagements to improve SRHR services for AGYW.
  • Media Advocacy: Through the PIC A MIC Media Tour, AGYW were trained to engage with local media to elevate SRHR issues such as consent, contraceptive access, and reducing stigma around safe sex practices. This increased visibility and created impactful public discussions.
  • Capacity Building: Deep Dive emphasized the importance of equipping AGYW with skills in social accountability and leadership, ensuring they actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their health and well-being.

Impact

  • Over 180 AGYW engaged through the Tausi Taskforce, with diverse representation including young mothers, AGYW living with HIV, and those from key populations.
  • Successful advocacy campaigns, including International Condom Day, which reached over 200 young people and distributed 144,000 condoms.
  • Partnerships with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health and UNAIDS, to support AGYW’s leadership in the national HIV and SRHR response.
