Sister2Sister

Despite advancements in the HIV response, adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Eastern and Southern Africa remain highly affected. The Kenya Adolescent SRH policy and guidelines aim to improve Reproductive Health access for youth, but demand and supply gaps persist. These particularly affect marginalized AGYW, including those with disabilities, young mothers, and HIV-positive young women

Beneficiaries

The project targets young mothers, enhancing their knowledge in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health, and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N), and advocates for better public health services. The Nairobi County Government and stakeholders like NASCOP and NSDCC can use project data to improve interventions for AGYW.

Project design

The project will strengthen AGYW support groups in Nairobi to address SRHR and nutritional vulnerabilities. It plans to develop a community social accountability tool to enhance service access and document AGYW experiences in SRHR, Nutrition, and HIV through case studies.

Impact

The Sister2Sister project has increased knowledge among young mothers in areas like mental health, sexual health, and nutrition. It has also improved access to reproductive health services and has been engaging young mothers from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities, in its activities. The project documents and shares impact stories, highlighting the real-life changes experienced by participants, and uses these narratives as advocacy tools.
