This project aims to continue supporting adolescents and young people living with HIV (AYPLHIV) through initiatives focusing on treatment and mental health, contributing to Aidsfonds' strategic goals and UNAIDS' Global AIDS Strategy.

Beneficiaries
The project targets adolescents and young people living with HIV, aged 10-24, offering them the support needed to manage their SRHR and HIV needs effectively in a respectful environment.
Project design
- AYPLHIV receive support to adhere to treatment, accept their HIV status, and improve their quality of life through knowledge and skills development on healthy living and treatment adherence.
- Promotes gender progressive norms and supports AYPLHIV’s wellbeing and SRHR needs, free from stigma.
- Increases AYPLHIV’s access to quality SRHR and HIV services, ensuring these services meet their specific needs.
- Advocates for government policies and guidelines that respect and fulfill AYPLHIV’s SRHR and HIV needs.
- Strengthens consortium partners’ capacity to advocate for comprehensive HIV and SRHR services and respectful policies.
Impact
- Peer mentors offer crucial guidance and support, fostering a safe environment for AYPLHIV to share experiences and receive practical advice.
- Weekly engagements empower AYPLHIV to advocate for their health and well-being, enhancing their knowledge and leadership skills.
- Peer mentors address AYPLHIV’s specific needs through relevant and accessible discussions on intimate relationships, contraceptives, coping strategies, and SRHR.
- Involving peer mentors in program design and national activities ensures that programs are beneficial and ethically executed, reflecting the real needs and preferences of AYPLHIV.
